McAllen PUB Science Lab

Sponsored by the McAllen Public Utilities Board, the Science Lab features the stream table and our family of live animals. Each week, different experiments are set up in the lab for children to try with their parents.

Art Studio

The Art Studio is available for children to "create and take" their own masterpieces. Each week, children are invited to create their own work of art.

Family Art Quest Activity

Two New Summertime Family Activities!!

Best for 5-8 year old children and their grown ups:

Borrow a bright blue IMAS backpack filled with treasure hunt clues. Go to the Art Galleries and hold a toy hummingbird as your family counts the hummingbirds in the John Gould prints.

Or cuddle a plush jaguar while you find our very different jaguar. There are 10 objects in the backpack to help you search for clues and answer questions.

Best for 8-12 year old children and their grown ups:

Borrow a copy of our Gem and Mineral Collection Scavenger Hunt and discover which rocks are from outer space and which rocks you might have brushed their teeth with this morning! Seven sets of questions will have you looked at rocks in a new way.

Each week, children are invited to create their own work of art.

Family Fun Night

On Thursday evenings from 5pm-8pm, special activities and demonstrations are set up in the Science and Water Lab.
